Having an Irish Water Spaniel means Never :

  • Having to look in the refrigerator alone
  • having to wonder if that slice of meat is still on the sandwich you were preparing and left near the edge of the counter and momentarily turned your back....
  • having a clean house and learning to enjoy it
  • being in bed alone with your spouse.
  • having to wash your face
  • having a loose roll of toilet tissue in the bathroom
  • having guests socks laying around 'cause the IWS brings them to you!!
  • having to find the TV remote by yourself
  • have to worry about someone breaking into your house
  • a dull moment!
  • You will NEVER walk alone...
  • being without your best friend
  • going to the bathroom without having a commode training session!
  • being able to find my slippers where I left them!
  • You never get tired of saying "no it's not a poodle, it's what a poodle wants to be."
  • being surprised at the condition you find something in after you've lost an item. I.E., Glasses without nose bridges, or temples with nothing but mangled plastic to place on your ears
  • doubting what happened to that pen or pencil
  • being able to read without a helpful hand to take it away
  • Have grass near the porch in your backyard
  • Need an electric blanket
  • Have museum quality furniture
  • have too many tennis balls
  • get dressed to go out until it's time to walk out the door
  • be at a loss for someone to snuggle with
  • be a couch potato
  • know what crazy antics are coming next
  • be finished vacuuming the carpet
  • be at a loss for fun, and laughter
  • having to worry about too much self-esteem or confidence. They will always find a way to bring you down to size, especially in competitive obedience
  • purchasing another pair of white pants
  • Wondering how that dirty underwear got from the hamper into the living room !
  • Wondering how those socks got into that little hole in the backyard !
  • Being surprised when your dog winks at you!
  • having to wash the kitchen floor
  • keeping your closet open
  • going to the bathroom alone
  • being dry when you give them a bath
